Just Ginger

Just Ginger offers a variety of artistic styles of artwork, ranging from paintings which are airbrushed onto wood panel to abstract work on street signs. I invite you to explore my work...

Hello, friends and fellow art lovers!  Although, I have been out of the art circuit for some time now I occasionally get calls and emails from customers and acquaintances requesting my services. I thought it would be appropriate to let you all know what has been happening with me. I have been ill for the past two years...I was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis two years ago which I now have under control. Currently my Dr. believes I may also have lupus. I am waiting to see a rheumatologists, my appointment is December 23rd. I stopped putting together events when I became ill and started working as a teacher for children with autism. I am currently too ill to work but I do still have some art work to display if you need an artist for that reason. For the time being im no longer available for makeup and body painting or organizing events.

Thanks so much for your interest- Ginger

 Bio

Ginger, or Ginga as her friends and the art and fashion communities know her, was raised in San Diego, CA without any formal exposure to the art world and its conventions, yet in recent years, her reputation has risen to a considerable degree of prestige both locally and nationally in the entertainment circles for her fashion pieces, canvases, art and music events, and other  objets d'art. As a direct recipient of the graffiti art lineage that gained notoriety and canonization in the '80s, she has taken an organic approach with it's evolved cachet and melded it with a contemporary metropolitan aesthetic that effortlessly dodges the obvious and ubiquitous styles in the various communities she's involved in today.

1/8 Fresh Designs is her highly personalized "hot couture" fashion house that she started in 2003. Each piece is hand made by Ginga and depending on the degree of involvement on the part of the client, she adds nearly any desirable detail to the pieces she creates. In the very same tradition as the Salon des Refusees, she has also started curating exhibitions for those artists she deems as not getting deserved attention from the local art "cogniscenti." In this sense as well, she is breaking new ground as the popularity of these events has grown into a loyal following.
